5 Home Remedies to Treat Sprain Symptoms Naturally

A sprain is an injury to the ligament that joins two bones together. It’s caused by twisting either your ankle, wrist or knee. Sprains are very painful injuries. Therefore, if you sprain an area that you use frequently, it can be difficult to do your daily activities. In this article, we’re going to tell you a little more about this condition. We’ll give you some natural alternatives to help you treat sprain symptoms naturally.

Sprain Symptoms

Whatever body part is hurt, it will be painful to touch it, it’ll swell, and it’ll usually turn a different color. However, you’ll also find that you’re sensitive at very certain, specific areas.

The main symptoms of a sprain are:

  • Joint or muscle pain. The level of pain depends on how functional the joint is.
  • Inflammation. This is due to the rupture of capillaries and synovial fluid in the affected joint. These build up and make your joint swell. Swelling is a characteristic sign of a sprain.
  • Joint stiffness. It’ll be hard to move the joint due to the pain you feel.
  • Heat in the affected area. When blood accumulates in the joint, the temperature goes up.

Causes of Sprains

Sprains usually happen from accidentally twisting a joint and stretching the joint tissues. Therefore, the ligament can stretch or tear a lot. It’s not uncommon for your bones to be partially dislocated, as well, but don’t worry: these injuries heal.

In severe cases, you might also have a fracture. No matter what, as long as you take care of it properly, the sprain will heal completely. However, it may take several weeks.
