Homemade Turmeric Juice – Cancer Fighting and Anti-Inflammatory Elixir

Turmeric is an integral part of Indian and other cuisines of Asian countries. It is not just an ingredient used for cooking but it is also used in the herbal medicine. It has more than 300 antioxidants and other healthy nutrients in turmeric juice that are beneficial for the health.

Together with turmeric powder which can be found on the market,  turmeric juice which is raw can be used to feel its various health benefits. The University of Maryland recommends dosage of ½ to 1½ teaspoons (1 to 3 grams) turmeric powder daily.

Homemade Turmeric Juice

The turmeric juice can be also extracted by blending turmeric fresh roots together with a glass of water. After that the mixture should be strained. The fresh turmeric root can be also grated and the juice can be strained by using fine mesh strainer  or cheesecloth.

Here is a refreshing, healthy drink recipe using turmeric juice.

  1. Take 1 to 2 tablespoons of turmeric juice which is fresh and put it in a jug.
  2. Put the juice of 1 to 2 lemons, depending on your taste.
  3. Optionally, add a little ginger juice.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of raw honey.
  5. Add 2 cups of cold water and mix the ingredients thoroughly.

Consume the drink with ice. Store the rest of the juice in the fridge for a few days. You can get a richer taste of this healthy drink if you add coriander leaves or fresh mint.

Turmeric juice is generally safe for most people. However, some may experience stomach upset. When taken in excess, it may also cause stomach ulcers.

Moreover, turmeric may not be suitable for people suffering from gallstones and biliary tract obstruction. It also act as a blood thinner.

For treating pimples and clearing acne scars, start applying turmeric juice, a drop of it, on the area that is affected before bed time. The next morning, rinse it off with water.
