3 Homemade Facial Toner Recipes for Oily, Dry, and Normal Skin

Everyone has their own way of cleaning their face and maintaining their skin glowing and healthy. But, the most used products are face wash, moisturizer, and skin toner.

However, what most of us forget is that not all skin types are the same. You can have oily, dry, or sensitive skin so not every skin toner is suitable for every type of skin. Using the wrong toner won’t help your skin, and certainly not your skin problem.

Luckily, you can make your own skin toner that’ll suit your type of skin with simple, natural ingredients.

These DIY homemade facial toner recipes will help treat your skin issues, as well as maintain a glowing, healthy, and younger-looking skin.

1. Homemade Facial Toner for Oily Skin

This natural skin toner is suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. It acts by reducing the oiliness of the skin as well as the large pores. One of the ingredients is apple cider vinegar which can lower the skin’s pH levels, thus reducing its oiliness.

Another one is the anti-inflammatory green tea which is excellent for treating acne.

To boost the effects of this toner, add few drops of lavender and/or tea tree oil.

The first helps fight inflammation and acne thanks to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, while the latter helps combat blemishes, breakouts, pimples, and acne.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar
  • ¾ cup of boiling water
  • 1 bag of green tea
  • A few drops of lavender oil (optional)
  • A few drops of tea tree oil (optional)

Instructions:

Boil the water and add a bag of green tea. Let it steep and then transfer the tea into a jar. Stir in the apple cider vinegar, and that’s it. Your natural tonic for oily and acne-prone skin is done.

How to Use

Apply the solution on your face using a cotton pad or a spray bottle. Let it dry naturally, and don’t rinse it. Repeat twice a day for optimal results. If stored in a refrigerator, the toner will last for ten days.

2. DIY Toner for Dry Skin

If you have dry skin, you might deal with aged, flaky, red, itchy, or simply unappealing skin. Your skin condition can especially worsen during winter. Luckily, you can moisturize your skin and make it healthier with the natural skin toner we present you.

One of the ingredients is rose water which will make your skin look fresher by restoring its optimal pH levels. If you refrigerate it, you’ll get the perfect solution for your large pores. The second ingredient is glycerin which will further improve your skin’s complexion.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. of rose water
  • 1 tsp. of glycerin

Instructions:

Pour the rose water and glycerin in a spray bottle and shake it well.

How to Use

Gently spray the homemade facial toner on your face, or apply it with a cotton pad. Do this before applying your regular moisturizer. Keep the DIY toner in the fridge and it’ll last for up to ten days.

3. DIY Toner for Normal Skin

You have a normal type of skin if it’s neither too dry nor too oily. So, using this DIY toner will not only moisturize it but will also protect it from becoming too oily or dry. The toner includes healthy, natural ingredients that are proven to be beneficial for the skin.

For instance, cucumber hydrates and soothes the skin, which makes it great for sensitive skin. What’s more, it helps create an ideal balance between the skin’s dryness and oiliness.

Another ingredient is Aloe Vera which provides potent anti-bacterial effects which help fight and prevent a pimple and acne. Moreover, it helps delay skin aging by accelerating the regeneration of skin cells.

The astringent effects of rose essential oil are perfect for acne-prone skin, whereas its anti-inflammatory effects help reduce inflammation and redness. Also, it’ll make your skin look younger and fresher.

You can also use peppermint essential oil which prevents acne breakout by controlling the skin’s oiliness.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized cucumber
  • Gel from one Aloe Vera leaf
  • 5 drops of peppermint or rose oil

Instructions:

Juice the cucumber and add the Aloe Vera gel and one of the essential oils. Mix well and transfer the mixture into a spray bottle.

How to Use

You can spray it on your face, making sure it covers all the areas of the face.

Spray the homemade facial toner on your entire face and let it act for 5-10 minutes before washing it off. Store it in the fridge and it’ll last for 5-7 days.
